Zainab Akande is a visual storyteller based in New York City.
Zainab currently works at The Dodo, where she's the Snapchat editorial manager. In addition to The Dodo, she has written for The Credits, GALO Magazine, Indiewire, Artinfo, MarieClaire.com, Mic.com and more. She loves nothing more than conceptualizing, writing, editing and packaging highly visual and highly sharable stories for the web and beyond.
Zainab graduated with an M.A. in Arts & Culture reporting from the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism in 2014. She received her B.A. in mass communication with a minor in journalism from the University of Delaware in 2013.
In 2011, Zainab assisted in research with University of Delaware’s Dr. Danilo Yanich on local television news and shared service agreements, which was written about in the New York Times.
She is also a diehard film, television and pop culture buff. Talk to her about noir and/or dank memes anytime.
A native New Yorker born to Nigerian immigrants, Zainab was raised in the Bronx, but currently resides in Brooklyn.
